Mozambique – What a dive!

After saying goodbye to Fran I spent a couple of days chilling out before heading back to Joburg airport to meet Sophie.  From there we flew to Maputo. We were only there for a day so there’s not too much to say about Mozambique’s capital city. We didn’t get a chance to sample the nightlife which it’s famous for and the only lasting memory I have is of the streets lined with litter. Thankfully Tofu, where we spent most of the holiday, was better. Much better! It’s a small town set on a wonderful beach which touches the warm water of the Indian Ocean.  We were staying in straw huts right on the beach front and spent most of the week chilling out and enjoying the good food.

My compact camera has packed up so I don´t have any pics of the beach 🙁 But I do have these pics from the best dive of my life!! Tofo is famous for its diving so me and Paul, a mate from the boat, went to check it out. On the boat trip out to the dive site we saw rare humpback dolphins fishing so we quickly jumped in and watched them. While we were diving we saw a huge great big Manta Ray with a wingspan of about 4 metres come right by us. We were feeling very lucky at this point when more dolphins came to join us!

Take a look 🙂

Its been another great part of my trip and I will be sorry to see Sophie go home tomorrow. Next update will be from Vilanculos, further up the coast…
